November - May: Whalesong's Beach + BBQ Cruise is the perfect way to enjoy half a day on K'gari (Fraser Island). 9am - 2pm daily.
Welcome to our 23/24 Summer of Fun. Your taste of the remote West Coast of K'gari (Fraser Island) for a half day of kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, tube rides, exploring, relaxing, enjoying and making lifetime memories. Half a day on your terms.
As we depart the marina and head for our secluded beach to explore, we look for our resident dolphins, turtles, dugongs and seabirds. In addition, we enjoy a delicious morning tea of fresh fruit and a selection of cakes, served to you on deck by our friendly, experienced and COVID-19 safety trained Whalesong crew. Of course, you're welcome to a cup of tea, coffee, milo or fresh water at any stage throughout the cruise.
We then drop anchor and you can swim, kayak, walk, partake in beach activities, take tube rides and explore a stunning and secluded remote West Coast Fraser Island Beach (specific destination determined by weather and tide).
After our relaxing time on the beach, we come back to the boat and enjoy a hearty, freshly prepared and cooked Aussie BBQ lunch, which can be accompanied by a cold drink from our fully licensed bar. We have a freshwater shower on board to wash away all the salt and sand.

A bit about K'gari (Fraser Island):
K'gari means 'paradise' in the native Butchulla language. Of course, once you step on the island, you'll find out why.

9am sharp. Please be at the boat by 8:45, ready to board.
2pm. The cruise is 5 hours, so there's plenty of time to relax in the afternoon or travel to your next destination, if you're leaving Hervey Bay.
We're surveyed for 100 people but only take up to 45 guests for guest comfort.
Yes. We have no minimum or maximum age on this cruise. You just need to be physically able to transfer from the main boat to the tender, then onto the beach.
Yes. There's plenty of room on board for prams and strollers.
Whalesong is a wheelchair accessible vessel. However, we recommend a good level of physical fitness to transfer to the Island and back again. At this stage, we cannot take wheelchairs across to the Island.
Yes. You're welcome to bring your own equipment on board.
We don't supply any fishing equipment. There is snorkelling equipment on board.
Yes. We are on the West Coast of the Island, which boasts beautiful and safe swimming beaches with no rips.
Yes. There are many sharks in our waterways. However, we haven't encountered any where we swim on the Beach + BBQ cruise.
Yes. There are many types of jellyfish, most are harmless. Irukandji jellyfish have been found in the water near the Island. However, it is only certain times of the year and with certain winds. Also, they're more likely found in the creeks and we keep away from the creeks during the cruise. We provide stinger suits, free of charge, for anyone who wants to use them.
