Frequently Asked Questions

During Whale Watching season (mid-July to late-October) we run our twice daily Whale Watch Cruises:

• 5 hour Extended Morning cruise from 8am-1pm
• 4 hour Afternoon + Sunset cruise from 2pm-6pm(ish) sometime back around 6:30pm
• From late-June to mid-July (pre guaranteed whale sightings), we offer our 5-6 hour Whale Search/Dolphin Watch cruise: 8am-1pm(ish)

During the rest of the year (mid-November to early-July), we run our:

• Half-day Fraser Island Beach + BBQ cruise (November to early June) from 9am to 2pm
• 1.5 - 2 hour Hervey Bay Sunset Cruise (November to mid-July) - departure time varies depending on sun setting time

At any time of the year, we also run Private Charters, where you can hire the entire boat for yourself, your family or your function.  We can create a cruise to suit your needs.

Each of our cruises Whale Watch, Whale Search cruise or West Coast K'gari Fraser Island Beach + BBQ, includes morning/afternoon tea and lunch/dinner.  Our sunset cruise includes canapes and a complimentary drink of your choice.  Drinking water and all hot drinks (tea, herbal tea, coffee and milo) are also included.

Whale Watch or Whale Search cruise: comfortable clothing and shoes, jumper, hat, sunglasses, camera

Fraser Island Beach + BBQ: hat, sunglasses, towel, swimmers, camera

Hervey Bay Sunset Cruise: camera and jumper (if you feel the cold – please note: we have indoor seating available.)

As part of our eco friendly goal, we don’t require printed tickets; simply state the name your booking is in to board the boat.

Yes, you can purchase a Gift Card for any of our products or a $$ value to be put toward any product. The Gift Card is valid for travel up to three (3) years from date of purchase.  Please note: if you have won a Gift Card as a prize in a competition (i.e. you haven't directly paid for the Gift Card), the date valid for travel will only be up to one (1) year, or as stated on the voucher.

Yes it is. With a comfortable fit out and twin hulls, MV Whalesong 2 is one of the most comfortable boats on the fleet! It is a catamaran, with ballast tanks to add to the weight, to ensure as much stability as a boat on the water can have. Please see our page dedicated to the features of MV Whalesong itself.

Yes, as we're in the unique position to have our own marina office, you are welcome to store your luggage in our office, until your cruise has finished.

Yes, depending on what day you book. If your group consists of 10 or more adults, please contact our office to receive our group discounts.

Yes we are accessible for all guests with ramps to (dis)embark, extra wide viewing areas and a wheelchair accessible toilet.

Yes, we offer 50% discount for the companion card holder (excluding most weekends - depending on availability). You need to call to book this in, as you cannot book online.

No, we cannot accommodate pets onboard.  There are a few pet sitters in Hervey Bay, you can contact.  However, we do accept assistance animals on board (with correct badge or tag on collar or harness). Food: Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food onboard.  However, the price won't be discounted because you're bringing your own food.

Drinks: We have soft drinks, juices and snacks for sale at the bar. You can bring your own onboard, but you don't need to. However, you cannot bring alcoholic drinks onboard as we are fully licensed. If you are found to have your own alcohol onboard, it will be taken off you until you disembark the boat.
